Baker's Dozen: No, I'm Not Talking About Doughnuts

Dearest Readers, the most AMAZING thing happened to me a few weeks ago: I got into the finals for a SERIOUSLY AWESOME contest!!

Yes, it's really TRUE!! The FINALS!! ME!!

I'm so excited that I may have to slip on a pair of Depends.

The Authoress over at Miss Snark's First Victim hosts an annual kick-ass contest called the Baker's Dozen where authors submit their logline (a one or two sentence pitch) and the first 250 words of their completed manuscripts, and after a public critique, participating agents (there are 15 this year) have the chance to bid on them!

And I was picked as one of the top 25 adult entries!

So, on Friday, November 30--THIS UPCOMING FRIDAY--my entry will be posted for a public critique.

When it sunk in that ALL OF THE INTERNET will be able to read and critique my logline and first 250 words.

I was in a competition similar to this one before and not a single agent bid on my work (a humbling experience) but this time, I have a fresh new manuscript that I just LOVE so I'm brimming with optimism. BRIMMING, I tell you! But, even if it's another no-show for me, agent wise, getting into the finals is awesome in and of itself. Yay!!

So yeah, the next week or so is going to be a mixed bag of emotions, mostly consisting of extreme excitement and escalating fears of rejection.

And, not to worry, when the contest starts (THIS FRIDAY), I'll post a link so you can check it out!! The more people that know about it, the better!

Yay for kick-ass contests!!
